The Unconscious Self
“Where do you turn, when your dreams are out of reach”
With this image, I hoped to capture the essence of a close personal friend's dreams and aspirations. He has always dreamed of a life out west as a part of the shriveling equine industry. Limitations in the industry both financial and on behalf of his health have barred him from doing so.

These images were commissioned by stylist and educator Hauns Korpela of Scott J. Salon in New York. Hauns came to us with a concept for his submission to NAHA (The North American Hairstylist Awards)
““I have always loved the darker side of the villainous vixens in childhood stories we’ve all grown up with, so I wanted to take a few of my favorites and bring them from the story book pages to the theatrical stage of avant-garde design and pay homage to their larger-than-life personalities.””

““The Disposessed.” is depicted through the lens of the German fairy tale “Rumpelstiltskin.” ”
In this image I aspired to portray the common working man/woman spinning her own dispossessed hair into gold to feed the fire of the system. The furnace fire burns indefinitely representing the structure of modern society and its burden on humanity.

Ive always been fascinated by dystopian stories...
the end of the world, and time. In this image I depicted the model with a decision. A decision I feel that we all face daily. Whether or not to pursue your dark side . The woman portrayed has two doors open before her. Two reflections of self. The reflection to the right is her dark side, to her left, the light. She is conflicted as sensually she is driven toward satisfying her dark unconscious . She holds a timer consciously knowing that the rest of the world is counting down around her in hopes of being released from their moral responsibility.

Beauty enchants us all.
Man and woman can easily spend endless hours studying, in preparation, imitating those they feel represent an ideal vision of what pop culture deems as perfection. One might become so consumed by the idea that the only result is a complete loss of what it is to be human. In all things, to accept imperfection as perfection. To recognize the beauty in chaos. In this image I intended to depict a woman who suffers the obsession. She studies in front of the mirror, alone in a vacant space. She ignores nature enthralled by herself. Her shadow I represent by silhouette of medusa. In a sense, she has become that which she feared most.
